Email Marketing That Actually Converts
Why your list is not buying, and the five-email structure that fixes it.
Open rates are a vanity metric. What matters is whether the email moves someone one step closer to a decision.
The three reasons lists do not convert
- The lead magnet attracted the wrong people — it promised something unrelated to the paid offer.
- There is no narrative. Random tips do not accumulate into trust.
- The offer appears once, buried, with three competing links.
The fix. Build a five-email welcome sequence: deliver, origin story, one usable tactic, one specific case study, one offer with a single link. Then send one useful email per week, forever.
Segment by behaviour: clicked but did not buy, opened nothing for 30 days, bought before. Each segment needs a different next email. That single change usually outperforms any subject-line experiment.
